Archetypes play a key role in Human Design and Gene Keys. They represent fundamental patterns of behavior and energy encoded in our DNA. These are reflected in 64 traits (Genetic Codes, referred to as Gates in Human Design, Keys in Gene Keys, and Hexagrams in the I-Ching). Each of these traits describes specific aspects of our personality, our challenges (Shadows), our abilities (Gifts), and our highest potential, known as Siddhi.
