Gates (Gene Keys) According to Human Design. Brief Description and Characteristics.

Gates According to Human Design with Their Brief Descriptions.

Each Gate in Human Design on this page is referred to as a Gene Key. Why is this? Because, in addition to Human Design, the GeneKeys system expands upon the trait of a given Gate, showing it in three possible ways it can manifest in our character and experience. These are:

  • Shadow (the lowest aspect, based on fear and the struggle for survival),
  • Gift (our talent and genius, through Gifts we operate according to our potential),
  • Siddhi (the highest, masterful level. This is how an enlightened person, a saint, or someone who has integrated their Shadow behaves, having access to their Gifts and the highest vibration of that archetype).

More about the Codes can be found in posts about the Gene Keys, as well as in the descriptions of specific Codes.

When analyzing a given Gate in your Profile, it’s important to pay attention to the following aspects:

  • Which Center is the Gate connected to? Is the Center defined or undefined? The Center adds an additional characteristic to the trait. For example, a Gate in the Root Center always carries a sense of stress and tension, etc. A Gate in the Throat Center is always associated with activity, voice, and questioning. A Gate in the Emotional Center represents one aspect of our emotional experience of certain events, etc.
  • Does the Gate create an Energy Channel? Is this Gate connected to another Gate in the nearest Center? A Gate, being part of a Channel, carries an additional quality in its experience. The Channel amplifies and stabilizes the functioning of that Gate.
  • Is the Gate defined by our Sun and Earth? If so, these Gates are most important for us. They define our Life Path (Sun) and the most important life challenges and lessons (Earth), as well as our Life Purpose (Unconscious Earth). These Codes should be studied especially closely. More details can be found in the post about the planets (please refer).
  • Find the Gate in the Gene Keys catalog and delve into your own contemplation of the Code.

Each Gate and each Gene Key defines one specific archetype, one trait of our character. Even though each archetype is universal, each of us has our own individual way of experiencing a given Gene Key. The theme is the same… but the way, form, and timing of the experience differ depending on cultural norms, environment, family, upbringing, karma, and level of understanding.

Can someone avoid experiencing the Shadow if they have a particular Gene Key in their Profile?

The answer is… unfortunately, no. The Codes are our “genetic program.” This is how we create our experiences and life choices, in order to experience the Codes present in our Profile. If someone does not notice their Code (and its Shadow)… hm, it means they should spend more time on self-observation and self-knowledge. I guarantee that the given Shadow will “find itself.” If you want to experience the Gifts and Siddhis, the path is one: you must integrate the Shadow (more in the post about Shadows – first page, please refer). Only after integrating the Shadow, the Gifts and Siddhis related to the archetype will open up.
